The Montessori Method is based on years of patient observation and study of children by Dr. Maria Montessori, a medical doctor, student of psychology, and professor of anthropology. Dr. Montessori developed her methods and materials by allowing children to show her first-hand what worked and what did not. The Montessori Method has proven itself universally- within a single generation it has been proven successful among children of many nations, regardless of social climate, rank, nationality, or culture.
This method is based on the profound respect of each child’s personality, and allows him or her to grow in biological independence. Each child works and learns at his or her own pace- there is no struggle to keep up or slow down based on fellow classmates. Free from pressure and coercion, the child is able to fully focus on the learning experience, mastering new skills and developing into a well-rounded individual.
